Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo believes that the team must learn from the mistakes they committed during the 2-2 draw with Milan on Wednesday evening.
Los Blancos took the lead early on through a neat Gonzalo Higuain goal, but the home side fought back thanks to a double from Pippo Inzaghi, before Pedro Leon’s injury-time equaliser ensured qualification from Champions League Group G for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Speaking to journalists after the thrilling encounter, the Portuguese international confessed that the team did not kill off the game in the first half, saying: “We must learn our lesson because this was a match that we controlled and we have let two points escape.
“However, the important thing is that we have qualified for the knockout matches, and now we must look to top the group.”
CR7 also briefly mentioned the performance of referee Howard Webb, who awarded Milan a 78th minute goal which appeared to be offside, but refused to criticise his performance in the match.
“He is one of the best referees in the world, and the truth is that there are lot of things that have gone wrong, but hey, in England he was the only referee that I liked.”
