Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been awarded Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid over Barcelona striker Lionel Messi the best player in the world.
Both teams are to compete for the third time in two weeks, this time with a place in the Champions League final to be online.
And in the first leg played at the Bernabeu on Wednesday, the Scot added his thoughts directly to his former player as the best in the industry.
"Well, I had Ronaldo got here and I think he is the best player in the world," Ferguson told the club's official website.
"He can play with both feet, he has an amazing skill, strength and bravery, and it has a larger head the ball. But Messi is a fantastic player too.
"It is difficult to choose between the two is a coin.
"It depends on how you can see the player. The fact that Ronaldo has been here for so long, I know him. I saw how he has dedicated himself to training to become the best player in the world, and so that it is flawed because it is my player and person.
"But you look at the child and know that Messi is a serious player. He loves playing football. He is brave as a lion, because they always have the ball in any situation. They are different players, but no doubt both provide a final product amazing. "
